CHIDI LLOYD REITERATES CALL FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE AMONG COMMUNITY LEADERS

Presents White Paper On Mgbuelia-Rundele Leadership Dispute

Chidi Lloyd Has Written His Name In The Sands Of Time — Eze Edison Omeodu

The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has reiterated the call for peaceful coexistence among community leaders across the area.

He said the unity and cooperation of community leaders remain a strong foundation for community development, peace, and security in the area.

Dr. Lloyd stated this during the signing and presentation of the white paper on the leadership crisis in Mgbuelia-Rundele, held at the Local Government Council Secretariat in Emohua on Thursday.

He thanked the leadership and members of the Rundele Council of Chiefs and the Mgbuelia Interim Management Committee for a careful study of the crisis and the recommendations submitted to the local government towards finding lasting peace and reconciliation amongst the interest groups in the leadership dispute.

Recall that Dr. Lloyd intervened in May 2022 in the leadership crisis that almost led to the breakdown of peace and order in the Mgbuelia community, resulting in the dissolution of all factional leadership structures in the community.

The council chairman, after extensive consultation with relevant stakeholders in the area, appointed a 5-man interim management committee to pilot the affairs of the community, with an express directive to reconcile aggrieved groups and find lasting solutions to the leadership crisis.

The interim committee headed by Chief Dike Eleonu was also directed to liaise with the relevant stakeholders in the Rundele clan, including the council of chiefs, to advise the local government on the necessary steps towards resolving the crisis.

After several engagements with parties in the dispute as well as relevant stakeholders, the committee recently presented its findings and recommendations to the local government.

The white paper is a collection of the recommendations from the committee, endorsed by the local government, for lasting peace in Mgbuelia-Rundele.

Dr. Lloyd urged parties in the dispute to embrace peace by accepting the recommendations in the white paper for the overall development of the community.

The paramount ruler of Omofo Community in Rundele, Eze Edison Omeodu; Councillor representing Rundele (Ward 7) in Emohua Legislative Assembly, Hon Emenike Wokama; and other stakeholders from Rundele, in their separate remarks during the white paper presentation, commended Dr. Lloyd for his swift intervention in the Mgbuelia community leadership crisis while appealing to parties involved to embrace peace and adhere to the content of the white paper.

Eze Edison Omeodu also congratulated Dr. Lloyd on his laudable achievements, especially in the area of infrastructure development, describing the total transformation of Emohua council headquarters as a landmark achievement.

The traditional ruler expressed gratitude to Dr. Lloyd for providing an alternative road for the people of Rundele with the construction of the Uke-Eli road, stating that the council chairman had written his name in the sands of time with the construction and completion of the 1.5-kilometre Uke-Eli road.

Meanwhile, Dr. Lloyd has approved the extension of the tenure of the Dike Eleonu-led Interim Management Community of the Mgbuelia community by three months, with a mandate to reconcile all aggrieved parties in the community and organize a transparent election for the emergence of a substantive community council to pilot the affairs of the Mgbuelia community, in line with the recommendations in the white paper.

Dr. Lloyd was joined at the white paper presentation by the deputy chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Emohua LGA, Dr. Jim Morrison; the Secretary of Emohua Council, Chief Vincent Chukwu; and other principal officers of the council.
